Ice Cats Draw No. 1 Seed in Brooklyn District of OHSAA Division I Tournament

The road to Columbus is now beginning to take shape.

On Wednesday evening, the OHSAA released the 2017 OHSAA Division I State Ice Hockey Tournament bracket. 

The Ice Cats, part of the Brooklyn District, have drawn the No. 1 seed in the district. The Wildcats accordingly receive a bye in the first round before playing the winner of Normandy vs. Brecksville on Saturday, February 18 at noon. The Wildcats would then play Brooklyn, Avon, or Chagrin Falls on Tuesday, February 21 at 5:30 p.m. 

The District Semifinal is slated for Saturday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. and the District Final will be on Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. All district contests will be played at the John M. Coyne Recreation Center in Brooklyn.

Besides the 21-8-2 Ice Cats, the St. Edward Eagles have the No. 2 seed, Holy Name holds the No. 3 spot, and Rocky River occupies the No. 4 seed. 

Before OHSAA Tournament play begins, the Wildcats will first play the Green Wave of Holy Name on Friday in the Cleveland Cup Semifinals at OBM Arena at 6 p.m. 

All games will be broadcast audio-only on the SIBN via the golden pipes of Joe Molnar, Jack O'Rourke, Connor Sims, and Patrick Keane.
