The coats will be donated to the organization Varsity Coats for Needy Folks.

Do you have your old varsity jacket lying around in the house? Do you have a gently used coat you don't wear anymore?

Saint Ignatius Athletics is teaming up with Varsity Coats for Needy Folks to provide jackets and coats to the homeless and needy of Northeast Ohio.

For the remaining five home basketball games, you can donate your old varsity jacket or gently used heavy coat at the ticket table in the Athletic Hall of Fame Hallway outside of Sullivan Gym. If you can't make it to a game, you can bring your jacket or coat to the Athletic Department during normal business hours during the week.

Varsity Coats for Needy Folks is a local organization devoted to collecting old varsity jackets and coats from people that don't use them anymore. The group takes off all of the lettering and hands out these jackets to the needy and homeless.

John Fox, father and grandfather of many alumni, has been working with the organization to collect coats from local high schools.

"This is a pretty great program," said Athletic Director Rory Fitzpatrick '88. "This is a wonderful way for the Saint Ignatius athletic community to give back and help those in need, especially during these cold winter months."
