Amidst a brilliant winter sports season for the Wildcats, one Saint Ignatius swimmer has quietly compiled quite the resume.

Most recently, this senior turned in a second place effort at the Northeast Classic this past weekend, anchoring the Aqua Cats' efforts.

That senior swimmer and Student-Athlete of the Week is Marcus Hong.

Hong has led the way for the Wildcats all season. Hong currently ranks among the top ten in the state in three events – the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and the 50 freestyle. The senior is also a member of two high-performing relay teams (the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle) that are currently ranked third in the state.

Most recently, Hong took second in the 100 butterfly on Saturday at the NE Classic in Canton. Hong's 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams also notched second place finishes.

Thanks in part to Hong's valiant efforts, the Aqua Cats placed 5th out of 51 teams at the NE Classic, a solid finish for the Wildcats.

Hong and the Aqua Cats face a busy weekend ahead. The Saint Ignatius swimmers and divers will battle Shaker Heights on Thursday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Loyola, Maryland for the National Catholic Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

Congratulations again to Hong on this honor, and best of luck to the Aqua Cats this weekend.
