Another day, another host of awards for the Saint Ignatius football team.

Cleveland.com named three Wildcats to its Defensive All-Star team on Tuesday – Michael Chime '17, Adam Shibley '17, and Colin Goodfellow '17.

Joe Gibbons '17, John Velotta '17, and Cameron Toppin '18 also received honorable mention.

Chime and Gibbons formed the foundation of a tough and strong front six. Chime finished the year with 58.5 tackles, along with a team-best 25.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and 9 quarterback hits. The senior also blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown against the Bombers in the state championship game.

Gibbons notched 34.5 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and 6 sacks at defensive tackle for the Wildcats in 2016.

Shibley represents a stacked Linebacker Legion on the all-star team. The outside 'backer led the team in tackles with 72, adding 20.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.

Vela recorded 38.5 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks in a stellar year at middle linebacker.

Punter Colin Goodfellow rounds out the Wildcats' contingent on the all-star squad. The senior punted 44 times this year, averaging 40.3 yards per boot. Goodfellow pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line 9 times, and recorded 5 punts of 50 yards or more. He also served as the kickoff specialist, with 61 of his 87 kickoffs reaching the end zone.

Congratulations to all six Wildcats on a special season. Your contributions on and off of the football field won't soon be forgotten.
