From Head Coach Pat O'Rourke '90:

In a game played at Quicken Loans Arena, Saint Ignatius opened GLHL play by defeating Walsh Jesuit 3-0.

Neither team could generate much offense throughout the game.  Senior captain Connor Koehnke finally broke through with 2:01 left in the game to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.  Walsh Jesuit went on the power play with 1 minute left, but Saint Ignatius scored 2 empty nets goals in the final minute after Walsh pulled their goalie for the 6th attacker.  Seniors John von Keyserling and Chris Revnew scored the short-handed goals that provided the final margin.

Sophomore goalie Benny Savarino notched his first varsity shutout by saving 18 Warrior shots, many of them from point-blank range.  Jakhari Desphy had 16 saves in net for Walsh Jesuit.

The Wildcats improved to 3-2-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in the GLHL heading into tomorrow's showdown versus St. Edward.  The puck drops at 4:45pm at Brooklyn Ice Rink.
