John-Paul, who assists Wildcats veteran Offensive Coordinator Nick Restifo and Quarterbacks Coach Jim Cahill '89 in relaying the plays to standout senior quarterback Patrick Ryan, shared with the corner this evening his wonderful news.

From Wasmer Field, where Coach Chuck Kyle's Wildcats are preparing for tomorrow night's OHSAA Division I State Championship Football Game versus their Jesuit Brothers from Cincinnati St. Xavier. For a preview on the 8:03 PM kickoff from Ohio Stadium at The Ohio State University, and a State Tournament Notebook, see the corner's posts from Wednesday and Thursday.

FROM JOHN-PAUL CHALHOUB

Mr. Dwyer

I am proud to say that after a long application process and a number of interviews, I have received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy from my District 14 Representative David Joyce.

Northeast Ohio is a very competitive area in the country and I'm very fortunate that I was able to receive a nomination among many other qualified applicants.

In order to qualify for admission to a service academy, you must first receive a nomination from a Congressman/Senator. Now that I have received a nomination, I will be placed into a pool of applicants among others who also received nominations for admission, or as the Academy calls it, an "appointment."

In other words, nothing is official yet, but a nomination is another step towards admission. At this stage in the application, there is nothing else for me to do besides pray that I'm so fortunate enough to receive an actual appointment to the Naval Academy. It's up to God now.

I'm really thankful for the support from my teammates and my coaches, along with my family as well. Hopefully in a couple months I'll be officially celebrating an appointment to the Naval Academy.

Respectfully,

John-Paul Chalhoub '17
