Runners and parents,

The 'Cats will return to the State Championship race for the 9th consecutive year with a 4th-place finish at Boardman!

The Regional pairings were changed this year, sending 25 teams and 200 runners to Boardman High school. The competition was deep with 5 top ranked teams in the field.

The Wildcats started in the 31st position on the line. That would be the far right side of your radio dial. They would have to get out fast to avoid the congestion at the left hand turn early in the race. The course had the consistency of a freshly tilled field in many places, so strength would prevail over speed.

C.J. Ambrosio gamely lead the field until the final turn and with 200 meters to go, it was a three-man race. Twinsburg's Ryan Adkins, Mentor's Matt Bull and C.J. all flipped on their after burners and finished 1,2,3, respectively. C.J.'s time was 15:58. Andrew Szendrey (last week's Saint Ignatius Athlete of the Week) was next in 16:51, followed by Liam McGuire (17:02), Nick Saul (17:20), Andrew Biehl (17:22), and Collin Kelly (17:59).

The 'Cats will race Saturday at the National Trails Raceway in Hebron, Ohio. Race time, 12:30. There will be a bus if there is enough interest. Sign up with Jennifer Fight in the athletic office. Come out and show your support for your team.

Go Cats! Go Tribe!
