About Saint Ignatius Athletics

Saint Ignatius High School is a Catholic, Jesuit college preparatory school in Cleveland, Ohio. Opened in 1886, Saint Ignatius has a long, rich athletic tradition with a history of developing young student-athletes into successful men of faith and character.

Saint Ignatius currently has 16 varsity sports, and a combined 41 varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams. Of the 1,500 students at Saint Ignatius, nearly 1,000 participate in athletics, making the athletic program a vital part of the school. 

Athletics is an important piece of a Saint Ignatius education, the goal of which is to help young men answer the question, "What does God want from me?"

Saint Ignatius High School is a vital educational institution dedicated to the formation of young men who know, love and serve Jesus Christ.  With a rich tradition of academic excellence, unparalleled athletic achievements, a distinctive arts program and unique and broad-ranging service programs, the school continues to be a regional and national leader in Jesuit, Catholic education. 

Located in the vibrant and historic Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio, the school enrolls more than 1,500 young men who hail from 98 cities in an eight-county region and boasts 109 faculty members, 91 percent of whom hold advanced degrees. Fifty nine percent have spent 10 years or more teaching at Saint Ignatius.
